I'm yourContractor PLUS provides you with cloud-based tools to plan, finance and manage your project - you get these tools free of charge when you register your project for free with
I'm yourContractor PLUS.
I’m yourContractor is a digital platform that connects (1) Property Owners who need construction-related goods and services, with the (2) Service Providers and (3) Suppliers of such goods and services.
(1) Property Owners do not pay for their use of the platform and tools provided. They only pay for the services as charged for by the service providers they engage on the platform, as well as the goods and materials they procure from suppliers via the platform.
(2) Service Providers (contractors) do not pay for the basic platform offering – they do pay a monthly subscription fee should they decide to join the I’m yourContractor PLUS program (see the FAQ “What is the difference between the standard I’m yourContractor and I’m yourContractor PLUS offering).
(3) Suppliers pay a small commission on sales processed through the platform.
I’m yourContractor serves 3 stakeholder groups, namely property owners, service providers and suppliers. Each of these groups has it’s own way of ‘joining’ the platform: Property Owners join the platform by registering a project; simply click any of the call-to-action buttons provided on the pages of the website, for example “YES, let’s get going”, “Register a Project” and “Get this now!”. You will be guided through the registration process, including setting up your own workspace which will give you access to certain free tools and services to help you succeed with your project.
For Contractors, Suppliers and other Service Providers, please complete and submit the form provided on the Become a Contractor page; we will respond to your request within 24 hours, and get you going by setting up your profile, workspace and tools.
I’m yourContractor is our basic uncurated offering that allows contractors and service providers to publish their detailed business profiles on the platform. The platform provides powerful search capabilities that allow property owners to find the specific services they are looking for, based on the information provided in the service provider’s profile. The basic offering also allows the property owner to send a trade enquiry to the service provider by completing and submitting a simple form that is presented on the service provider’s profile page. The basic uncurated offering does not provide the property owner with any project management capabilities.
I’m yourContractor PLUS offers attractive value propositions for property owners. When joining they get online tools to manage their projects, including contractor engagement, project planning, collaboration, document storage and so on. They also get peace of mind knowing that the service providers they engage with have been vetted with valid references, certifications, registrations and so forth. The program also connects the property owner with project management specialists that can advise and guide the owner through the project (should they choose to use this service). Property owners only pay for the services and goods they elect to use – payment is always project-based. There is no cost to the property owner for their use of the platform.
Project-based billing charges for a project based on the value of the work, not its aggregate cost. In other words, project-based billing asks the question “What should that building plan, design, work, etc. cost to deliver?” and answers that question – to the satisfaction of both the buyer and the seller– before the project even begins. Project-based billing offers these critical advantages:
Upfront Pricing – All project cost issues are negotiated and resolved before the start of the project. This frees both parties to focus on the project objectives once the work begins.
Simplified Invoicing – The service provider doesn’t have to account for every little fee or expense, and the buyer doesn’t have to experience “sticker shock” because project costs are suddenly way out of line with what was originally expected.
Better Cash Flow – Because the contractor and the client know what amount is due when, both can do a better job of controlling their cash flow to meet current obligations.
Project-based billing requires the project scope to be very well defined, and project execution carefully managed. That way, the service provider/contractor won’t suffer from “scope creep” (a project that continues growing due to a poorly defined scope of work), and the client won’t suddenly discover that an essential – and additionally billable – task or phase is missing from the project scope.
To procure goods and materials online using the platform’s market place you need to be a registered service provider (contractor). Property owners who register their projects with I’m yourContractor PLUS can procure goods and materials online via their principal agents.
To utilize the platform's online market place requires a business workspace, which is provided to contractors and other service providers when they register on the platform (in other words, for a property owner to procure online – other than through their principal agent - would require registering as a contractor in order to obtain the necessary workspace and procurement apps.
